A serial murderer hiding behind a mask resembles the God of the Moon is challenging the authorities in Stockholm. With the help of a psychiatrist, a police criminologist try to find out the identity of the murderer, which follows the same pattern: Burn their crimes in full moon nights.
For this argument we will think compared to the typical slasher , but not even close. To get an idea, imagine a thriller directed by Bergman , slow, enigmatic dialogue and much suspense.
has more of a connection with the giallo thriller and U.S., as well as other splendid as telefilm Citizen x (1994) ( although the present one is much more personal and close the auteur), but the truth is that the Swedish film is quite particular. As it begins with the usual initial investigation, the film becomes a kind of very personal look of the characters, with a really slow and sultry pace to bind to what are the most disturbing moments of the film: the viewing of home movies that reach the hands of the police. The final seconds are the most baffling and everything just subtly.
has great moments in history, such as sowing doubt about probably ritual killings, the multitude of suspects or the good work of the cast. The weakest point in my opinion (although this make it different) is the pace, too weary for my taste.
probably "Manguden" bored to more than one but the fact that this strange aura of power contained make profitable enough to review the order ( was edited DVD this year) and after many years of searching for the most seasoned fans. Surely anyone who has heard it will have many things in your head that you may not meet your expectations, so I think the best is that you relajéis and be led by this original "Swedish style" story of a serial murderer. --------------------------------------
